Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about island walks and trails for active retirees in Ireland
We keep a leisurely 2-3 km/hour pace with regular rest stops, so you're not rushed. Most of our Inis Mór walks cover 6-8 km total across 3-4 hours, including time to take in views at Dun Aengus and the coastal cliffs. We build in plenty of breaks to chat with locals and enjoy the scenery.
Yes—Dursey Island is our most accessible option. The cable car (Europe's only island cable car!) eliminates steep coastal paths, and our rambles there are flat, gentle terrain perfect for walkers with limited mobility. We can arrange rest spots and shorter 2-3 km options if needed.
May through September offer the warmest, driest weather and longest daylight. Spring (April-May) brings seabirds and wildflowers, while autumn (September-October) is quieter with still-pleasant temperatures. Winter walks are possible but weather can be unpredictable.
We arrange group pickup from local towns and handle all ferry logistics as part of your walk package. You just show up ready to walk—we take care of getting everyone to the right ferry at the right time, so there's no stress about timing or directions.
Waterproof jacket (essential—Irish weather!), comfortable walking boots with good grip, sun protection, a packed lunch or snacks, and at least 1.5 liters of water. We provide a detailed packing list before each walk, and our guides carry a first-aid kit and know where to find shelter if weather turns.
Absolutely. We cater specifically for active retirees and older adults—no one's competing. Chat with us beforehand about your fitness level, and we'll match you with the right walk and guide. Many people find our island walks more enjoyable than gym exercise because you're exploring stunning scenery instead of staring at a wall.
